Me with my two babies, Munch (Gray Scottish Fold) and Gidget (Tortoiseshell Domestic Shorthair - Rest in Peace).

Greetings! I’m Sammy Rios, an artist and animal lover/advocate.

Because the beauty of the Pacific Northwest was calling me, I recently made a huge move to Portland from Dallas, TX. In addition to having animals of my own for my entire lifetime, I’ve been working in animal care for the past six years; in Dallas, I was a local pet sitting company’s go-to cat sitter (Prestigious Pets) and have taken care of 100+ cats within the metroplex, building yearlong relationships with our clients’ kitties.

In July of 2019, I started fostering through two separate local rescues and became completely engrossed in the cat rescue world, working closely with shelter volunteers, helping with transport and spay/neuters, facilitating adoptions, and recruiting more fosters. Volunteering my time to animal rescue truly changed me as a person. Before all of this, I absolutely considered myself an animal lover and caretaker, but ever since I have become personally involved in cat rescue and have been enlightened to the serious epidemic Texas had with its homeless cat population, I consider myself not just a hardcore animal lover, but an animal advocate and educator. In addition to the theatre and music I create as an artist, animal rescue efforts have given me new purpose in life.

My two cats and one rabbit are my children. Every trip I take revolves around them and whether or not they are able to receive trustworthy care from my close friends and family. Because I understand just how important these felines are in our lives and I have years of professional cat sitting experience, I want to extend my services to those in the Portland area. I provide in-home pet services for whenever you go out of town and I have a deep understanding that each cat is unique. I have experience with individual dietary needs, administering medicines, insulin, and going above and beyond for the sake of every animal’s well-being. My commitment to you is to deliver quality and consistent care to match your cat’s needs.

I am a freelancer and am not affiliated with any other pet sitting companies in the area. Please feel free to contact me today with any questions you have.

Testimonials + Reviews

“I wouldn't trust anyone with my cats more. My husband and I joke that they love our "cat nanny" more than us- whatever, it's fine . Sammy went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help ensure our cats were safe and taken care of with the recent weather damage. I can't believe the wonderful level of service and dedication from her. We always get great email and picture updates while we are away and it gives us peace of mind.”

“I recently hired Prestigious Pets to come every other day to look after my cat for three weeks while I was traveling internationally. I was incredibly nervous - my cat has not done well with being left with a sitter in the past (think - peeing all over the bed, in the exact spot she sleeps, out of anxiety) and this was the longest period of time that I have ever left her. Prestigious Pets was absolutely incredible. They sent frequent updates (upon my request) with details about how my cat was doing. I could tell that it wasn't a "stop by for 5 seconds and leave" type situation, and that they were spending time to pet, brush, and even play with Mia. When I returned home, Mia was extremely happy and there was no sign of anxiety during the time I was gone. She didn't even take revenge on me for leaving (in typical passive aggressive cat fashion) so I know she was well cared for.”
